JPSA Introduces Industrial Excimer Laser Base
Manchester, New Hampshire, USA – J P Sercel Associates (JPSA) announces the introduction of an Industrial Excimer Laser Base, an integrated self-contained industrial laser base, gas handling and utility system. “This product allows excimer lasers user to maximize safety, productivity and cost-efficiency for new or existing lasers, in a wide variety of industrial settings” Rick Slagle, Sales and Marketing Director, says. “Excimer lasers provide the highest power levels of all industrial UV lasers for materials processing. This product just makes them easier to install and use.”
The Industrial Excimer Laser Base provides new-found portability for an excimer laser system and its gas supply. For example, the laser can be shipped and easily set up without expensive plant gas and ventilation system installations. Also, a single ventilated enclosure reduces the total exhaust volume for improved heating and cooling costs; this further improves safety, since all the gases from the supply and the laser are in the same location. Additionally, the laser can be transported away from a process location for repairs or maintenance with very little downtime for high duty cycle applications where time is money. “This new system is also especially helpful for facilities that require a laser to be portable, e.g., movable to different experiments such as remote sensing, transportable or airborne applications dedicated to specific applications or processes” Slagle adds. “It safely eliminates the need for expensive plant plumbing, dual ventilation drops, and complicated, expensive hook-ups. All gas is in a single, ventilated enclosure, and can use premix low concentration or 4 part low cost gas types.” JPSA’s Industrial Laser Base is available with a number of options including an integrated cooling system, activated carbon air filtration, and JPSA advanced computer interface software.
The integrated module can accommodate the excimer laser, the gas handling system, power supply, vacuum pump, gas bottles, and more. It can be moved as a single unit and relatively quickly hooked up to the workstation that needs to run product. It also incorporates a HeNe alignment laser to facilitate setup. Its open, accessible design allows easy servicing and maintenance.
“Not every customer has or can cost justify multiple lasers in a facility. This base allows the single-laser customer to get the most use and flexibility out of it” Slagle says. The Industrial Laser Base is ideal for use with Coherent’s LPX Pro Excimer Laser. “The LPX Pro has been a favorite for many of our customers” Slagle adds. “They choose it for its proven increased performance and longer lifetimes which further reduce the amount of required gases and other consumables required for industrial operation.”
